Maryland High School Assessments

CollegeBoard Assessments

 

These assessments are used for high school placement, scholarship opportunities, and future educational planning purposes. Please review the CollegeBoard website for detailed information about each exam and assessments for each schedule. Click on the link below.

Advance Placement Exams (AP EXAMS)

·         Assessments are taken in May and normally taken by students who have advance placement coursework.

 

Preliminary Scholastic Assessment Test (PSAT)

·         Currently given to all 9th, 10th, and 11th graders.  Only the scores in the student’s 11th grade year are used for scholarship opportunities.

 

Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT)

·         SATs are given at pre-determined locations 7 times a year. Any student can take these exams.

 

 

American College Testing (ACT)

 

The ACTs are another form or a pre-college assessment comparable to the SATs. Please review the link below to determine if this test is needed for your future educational planning purposes.

International Baccalaureate (IB Exams)

Students in need of Accommodations

 

Local Assessments:

           

The following assessments are given through the county and follow the IEP/504/ESOL plan for students with accommodations.

·         Course Assessments

Please review your students IEP, 504, or ESOL plan to ensure the accommodations are up to date. Contacts for all student services departments are listed at the bottom of this page.

 

 Non-Local Assessments:

All students receiving accommodations must submit an application for non-local assessments. This process may take several weeks for approval from the out of county vendors. Please talk with the appropriate representative responsible for the student’s IEP, 504, or ESOL plan to begin the application process.

 

The following assessments are given from vendors outside of the county and require approval for accommodations prior to taking an assessment.
